Vice Mayor Karin Uhlich invites the public to Jacobs Park on Saturday, October 22, 2011 for a “Shred-a-Thon.” The event, sponsored by Shred-it, Gospel Rescue Mission and Lend-A-Hand, will provide the public an opportunity to protect their identity by discarding unwanted paper documents.
The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the southeast corner of Jacobs Park, 3300 N. Fairview Avenue. The first box of documents will be destroyed for free and each additional box of documents will be shredded with a suggested contribution of $5 per box.
And after sunset, Cox Communications, along with Vice Mayor Uhlich and Council Member Steve Kozachik, are sponsoring “Movies in the Park,” an alcohol-free event in Jacobs Park. Toy Story 3 will be the feature movie Saturday night with the show beginning at 7:15 p.m. Prior to the start of the movie – between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – there will be fun family activities in the park.
